London’s New Year Fireworks 2012-13

Happy New Year!
2012 was a big year for the UK, with the Queens Jubilee, Euro 2012 and of course the Olympics and Paralympics in London plus much more, and fireworks played a part in both the Jubilee Celebrations, Olympics and Paralympic celebrations. So as per previous New Years Eve’s London had there spectacular fireworks to finish off the year in spectacular style and see in 2013!
The display at Westminster, once again incorporated the London Eye, and barges on the Thames. The display itself lighting up the historic scenery with the colourful effects, created from an estimated 12000 fireworks being used in the display varying from single shot comets, large aerial shells, and stunning mine cakes. This 11 minute show to music celebrated moments from 2012 with clips from the Olympics.
Around 250,000 people cued up for hours along the banks of the river, with some arriving as early as 3pm to make sure they had prime position for the coming festivities. With around 13 million people watching the display on TV as Big Ben struck midnight!
